So, this officially sucks.

The other day I did a fresh install of windows on my laptop. Not only did that process go abnormally wrong, I just found out the back up that I made of my profile didn't completely back up.

At some point it must have bugged up or error-ed out and I didn't notice. Long story short, my Downloads/Documents/Pictures/Desktop.. none of that came over.

So, any unfinished MyBB plugins that I never uploaded.. gone. All of my pending Visual Studio projects... gone. Irc 2012.. gone. New Irc Class... gone. The updated TechBot that I never uploaded... gone. A ton of other stuff that I can't think of right now... gone.

Wow. Looking back I know I should have double checked. But this process seemed so routine. Back up data. Re-install windows. Profit. Well, not exactly the case.

Anyways. That sucks. But looking on the bright side I don't have to go through and organize it now. I get to start fresh and go into beast mode again.
I've done this a few times a long while back, but i've learned a bit from those mistakes so now that doesn't happen to me anymore :)

I backup all that stuff on a partition which later gets deleted and extended back into the original once i've got it reinstalled, otherwise, an ext HDD, but what I do is check the relative folder sizes once i'm done (only about maybe 10-20 folders so it doesn't take long), including all in my %userprofile% and any other separate locations, but the majority of personal files are all located within those %userprofile% directories, because even the desktop is there too, and all it's folders.
Yeah, this was the first time I've ever lost data like this. I will be taking better precautions in the future.
Holy crap. Reading this legitimately made me cringe, as odd as it sounds. I can't even get myself to delete my first VB project from ages ago. I feel horrible for you, those are huge losses. I hope you recover/redo those projects.
Shiiit.... This is huge losses :(

First time is always the worst, but it's a good thing to have happen to you, because you become less careless about it in the future :) And usually you take precautions like having backups elsewhere so that you don't lose any data in case of this kind of event.
The last backup I made was probably a year ago. So I have some really old stuff from the SupportForum days.. haha.

Haha Laugh

It's not at all bad I guess, better than losing everything.
Thankfully, I dont really have too many important things on my computer, but what is important I keep on my portable HDD. Haha
He cried for like 3 hours...jk!!! :D
But that sucks, I couldn't imagine losing all my data! ;)
