Windows 8: Will You Be Using It? - Oloty - 06-13-2012 09:55 AM

Heyy Everyone,

Im sure the majority of you (if not all of you) know about Windows 8.
So, here's a quick question: do you plan on booting it?

Personally, I dont plan on it.
First off, Windows greatness always seems to skip a generation. (Some of you will get it)
Secondly, the new Windows 8 has a "kill switch".
Do you really want Microsoft to be able to see what youre doing and shut your computer off at any time?

Anyways, these were my thought, now let's here yours.

I personally love Windows 8, and I love the metro UI. I am one of the only people who who feel that way too. I mean, there are some things that I wish I could change, but the positives outweigh the negatives. I work a bit faster I think with the Metro UI and I like the store. I just hope they don't start accepting all apps put out and have a fail like they did with the Windows Phone Marketplace.

If they give other browsers the same resources as IE. Then maybe.

I won't be. I'm dual booting the Consumer Preview still but hardly use it anymore. It's too much different then what I like and I don't see any advantages of getting used to using it.

I like the Metro Style design, but not for things like their apps that take up the whole screen.

Personally, unless I end up buying a touch screen computer, I won't be getting it.

This is what I see, not being able to view multiple metro apps on the same screen, seems a bit odd. I usually have 10's of Windows open on my PC for multi-productive tasks.

Same here.
I have my laptop connected to two other screens so I can do many things at once.

Are you sure you want Windows 8? Or just want to be able to use up the the majority of your RAM, why not install 64 bit Windows 7?

Trust me, I've tried. Too many times.
And yes, I don't see how it could hurt. Agreed, the Killswitch would suck but surely someone would come out with a block for it shortly after release?

We've been through the Developer's Preview, Consumer's Preview and now Release Preview so far... I've tried them all, but whether it's just because i'm used to Windows 7, or all my stuff is on Windows 7 and i've spent months customizing my machine... I still use Windows 7 all the time preferably. Originally that MetroUI Tileview and no start button freaked me out though admittedly.
