You have successfully solved this challenge! The key is: dddddw

Try again! Btw, I saw your new condition to make sure there is only one solution! But why did you chose 619 ?

619 is a calculated number based on a pre-conditioned equation from 6 char values. Each of the 6 char values after "Ace" in the inputed password are calculated indifidually into the decimal equivilant and then each decimal equivilant from those 6 char values are added to form 1 total sum.

So we have "AceSSSSSS" inputed as the password, just for the sake of argument. (Not correct key, just using as an example).

"Ace" is taken out and stored somewhere safe for the meantime. Then I have the application take this remaining string (6 chars) "SSSSSS" and for each char in that char array, I calculate the Decimal char value of each.

S = 83 (Decimal Value)

So we end up with 83, 83, 83, 83, 83
Which then turns into 83 + 83 + 83 + 83 + 83 + 83 which = 498.

So our end value I concat "Ace" and "498" to make "Ace498" in this case, and compare to the input string value, which is split off into those sub values, and joined, before being compared to "Ace498" for the final check.

I recently had to add another little part of my program to make sure that it was a certain string that could return as true before going to the check, as anyone before could have just used "AceSOMERANDOMSTRING" and came out with some extra char combinations that also added up to 619 previously. Therefore I realized that there could have been more than one solution. That is fixed though in the new version I have up on the site.

florin that's not the Key I had in mind for the application, and it doesn't work when inputted to the Input Password: in my program lol, but I do believe you have understanding of how I generate the "check" based on your reply :)

I was going to go with sha1 or md5, but that's too common, I wanted to see what I could come up with just by using my imagination :)

Hint: Key has "Reboot" at the end of it

Quote:But why did you chose 619 ?

I didn't choose it at all unfortunately, I calculated the version so I knew what to compare with in the "check" at the end to determine if it's the right key or not, and the sum came out to 619 :)

Whatever you're doing though, I do believe you're getting it, because "dddddw" does add up to 619 too lol

100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 119

See that's why I had to patch my application previously though because "Acedddddw" would have outputted as CORRECT! But it's WRONG... I now compare to make sure that the second string is as it's supposed to be, so I make sure that the end contains the end string (6 chars) and the beginning has "Ace" before I calculate the dec value of each of the last 6 chars and concat to the END of the first string which should be "Ace" to make the key.

9 chars is too long for what i want to do so i will not try it then:

@echo off
set "chars=1234567890abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"

setlocal EnableDelayedExpansion
for /l %%a in (0 1 35) do (
for /l %%b in (0 1 35) do (
for /l %%c in (0 1 35) do (
echo(!chars:~%%a,1!!chars:~%%b,1!!chars:~%%c,1!
)
)
)

pause

That's what I was thinking too, sounded like he was trying to minimize the possibilities. I still wouldn't have tried to use batch to bruteforce it, batch is slow for that kind of thing, pro grammatically speaking.

(36)P(9) possibilities are not a matter of joke to evaluate.

I realize that, but that's why I mentioned that I don't think it would be the best way to bruteforce my key in any way by testing all possibilities until one is found.

I know that is why 5 chars may have been better
since thare is not a propper interface i had to script one

Code:
@echo off
start NUTcom.bat
nircmd win activate ititle "NUTCom"
nircmd sendkeypress p a s s
nircmd sendkeypress enter
::nircmd sendkeypress enter
pause

Code:
@echo off
title NutCom
NUTCracker.exe>Res.txt
exit

too mush work

RE: Challenge #25 - Ace's NUTCracker Challenge
Yeah lol, anything over 5 dramatically increases the # of possibilities I can imagine. If you read through all my posts in this thread though you should be able to find the password based on what i've said though :) I practically gave the password away between the posts i've made haha.
