Link shortening site?

Thinking of making ftfw.org a link shortening site.

Why? Because its a short domain and I'm bored.


How would I go about doing this?


All I need is a simple index page. With some text, ads, a textbox to paste the link in, and a button for "shorten" or something.

Anyway, it's nothing really hard to get done and would take few hours maximum of coding to make it work, I could Hardcode you a script for such Site.

I don't know. It was just a thought since I had ftfw sitting around rotting away.

I don't even have it on a server yet lol.

Basically all you need is a Google-like front-page, and save/read/(auto)delete URL's, and a single redirect function.
I personally wouldn't make it possible for users to register/login, but more give them the ability to "sign" their URL, so they can simply maintain lists of URL with their key only, no need for accounts/profiles/etc...

I'm sorry Predator but I can't make the tutorial for this, however, I did put up a simple hardcoded script that I can give you...
I just need to make some security and error handling when I get the time, but all in all it works...
