Even though this isn't directly relevant, Windows 8 Pro will only cost 15 USD (14.99) if you have a valid Windows 7 machine.

Can you dual boot them? If you can, I might actually consider buying Windows 8.

I would see why you couldn't. That'd be silly if they would only allow you to upgrade. Even still, create an image backup of Win7... then upgrade to Win8 and dual boot Win 7. :P

@Ace, have you installed this? Is there much difference from the Consumer Preview?

Thanks for the tip! Downloading both 32/64bit isos. Been busy trying to get an old case running and didn't get to check to see if it was available yet.
I figured it would be by 6:58PM Redding local time anyways. Back in '09 I found the 7 RC online at the 5:58PM Redding local time the night before the date announced.

I, will be installing this on the weekend lol, my heads a bit sore right now, I just got back from the bar with a few buddies. But I don't see why you can't dual boot Win7 and Win8...

Actually--I'm doing it right now basically. The bonus:

-Windows 8 BootMgr :)

I think it looks really nice...

I haven't gotten to the install part since I had to nuke the CP VM first as well as clean up the second OS drive in prep for the RP.

Once Acronis TI finishes up a new image of the 7 host as well as the use of the create image option in 7(will take up most of one 1tb drive) I will create a new VM and then onto the install to the second drive.

That will keep me busy for a little bit. Laugh

Actually I would be interested in people opinion of booting to a VM. I *think* you need one the new cores, i5 or i7.

Thoughts create realities.

You don't need a newer processor to boot via Virtual Machine. I have an AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core, and I can boot Windows 8 via VM or VHD from my experience.

I thought that some stuff was greyed out if you didn't have a newer processor?

Is there a big perfomance hit running VM?

Thoughts create realities.
