It's the email client the one that freezes. But it's not because of the software, in my opinion it's the computer that's too old and a 'big' file such a .jpg is a great challenge for it

Could be, I get emails all the time with tons of images and I can download them just as fast as I can open a small text file in explorer pretty much. :)
