Intel or AMD?
I remember saying that I prefer Intel, when it comes to CPUs so, I was thinking, what do YOU prefer? There's a constant battle between the two, both are good but which one is better, in your opinion?

RE: Intel or AMD?
I prefer AMD, you can get near the quality or just as good as Intel, but you're not getting ripped off when you buy an Intel and you're paying half the total price just for their name. I've seen $1000 Intel processors with debatable equal alternatives made by AMD at 1/4 the price.

I actually don't follow hardware that closely. I prefer the one that comes in my computer.. :P

Hardware is an area of computers that I have yet to get into.

RE: Intel or AMD?
Mine is an Intel Core i3, it's pretty old (got it in 2010 I think). I got my components on sale and since I prefer Intel, I got one. It's true though, AMD's are a lot cheaper and they are pretty much the same.
What processor costs $1000? Can it cook for me too? RollEyes

Closer to ~$1600 actually. It's a Xenon X5690 (made by Intel). Although there's more expensive than this, still under the enterprise level.

RE: Intel or AMD?
Now you've made me curious. I looked up some exaggerated prices and got scared Tongue2 I would never pay an entire month's salary for a CPU. Of course, if I'll be good this year maybe Santa will bring me a new one, it's time I change some stuff since I've had my PC since 2010.

What the heck is a Xenon? i think you mean ''Xeon''
funny thing is, many kids these days buy these 1000$+ for gaming rigs
just like the new Nvidia Titan GPU which is priced the same as a 690 or you can get a much cheaper 7970*2 cards in crossfire-x and you know what? they both absolutely rip this card apart in every category, but "GAMERS" are still gonna buy it..just because...

Ahh yeah, you're right, "Xeon" is so close to the other word that I usually get that wrong.

RE: Intel or AMD?
Intel is pricey, AMD is cheaper, but you can still get decent stuff with it.
