Ubuntu + pfSense
Has anyone had experience using pfSense? I'm thinking about testing it out on an old x86 computer that I currently have running Ubuntu. I'm trying to decide if I should try running it first as a VM, or just skip the BS and install it to the HD. Either way, I'm not out any data since it's a testing PC. I'm going to buy a NIC today so I have a few days before I do anything.

Just thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone has any experience in this area, or want to share anything they've done.

RE: Ubuntu + pfSense
Well, I'm wanting to use it as the gateway for my entire network. So it would take the place of my router, which I would then turn into a wireless switch. My router has been a piece lately, and I'm wondering if it's having trouble managing the various devices I have on the network. I'm hoping that by by relieving it from it's DCHP duties my network will run smoother. And then, I get the added firewall across the entire network as a bonus.
